The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge and understanding of how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and how to work safely. You will develop knowledge on the importance of social responsibility, the causes, transmission and effects of COVID-19, and the methods used to control transmission, such as correct hand hygiene and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). You will also gain an understanding of the safe working practices required to protect yourself and your clients. Approved by Ofqual, this award will offer additional proof that you are carrying out safe practices at all times and can be used as evidence for local boroughs, insurance providers and employers.

The ITEC Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for complementary therapies and sports massage is an on-line knowledge-based qualification aimed at complementary therapists who need to understand the COVID-19 infection prevention methods required in the working environment in order to maintain high levels of health and safety in the provision of your services.

Student Therapists

For all students undertaking ITEC qualifications, it is now mandatory to undertake the ITEC Level 2 Infection Prevention qualification in light of the recent pandemic. Your qualification in your chosen subject (eg; Reflexology, Massage. Aromatherapy, etc) will only be awarded once you have completed the Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention. The qualification is the only one currently regulated by the government (Ofqual) and therefore all students are required to undertake it even if you have completed something similar elsewhere.
